About Our Staff
We know that every child is unique and deserves a unique education. Our highly qualified teachers and staff guide the way for your child to become independent while making good choices. We strive to ensure that your children will be introduced to every aspect of learning in their formative years, so they're prepared for the future.
We are extremely proud of our excellent staff of teachers, directors, and support staff. We require on-going training for our staff. All of our staff are trained in First Aid and CPR. We take great pride and responsibility to keep safe, educate, and nurture the children within our care.
Meet Our Team
Elsy Romero
In January 2021, Ms. Elsy Romero joined our team of caregivers at Concord Christian Daycare. Currently, she works alongside Ms. Kaylee Ober serving the children and families in our infant program.
Prior to coming to CCD, Ms. Elsy served in ministries at Fairwinds Church. In 2008, she began working in the before and aftercare program at the school. She maintained her position until her youngest son graduated in 2013. A few months later, Ms. Elsy decided to pursue a position working at the daycare. She was filled with joy when she was hired to work in the infant classroom. Two years later the Director approached her with a new opportunity to work in the two-year-old classroom as the aide. Ms. Elsy agreed and worked with the two-year-olds for the next four years.
Elsy has raised four children and is now a grandmother to ten beautiful grandchildren. When Elsy is not working, she enjoys cleaning homes, and helping at her church. However, her favorite thing to do is spend time with her grandchildren.
One of her favorite Bible passages is Psalm 91. This passage is meaningful to her because she looks to Jesus as her refuge and wants to be under His protection.
Deena Spaulding-Penn
Deena Spaulding-Penn joined Concord Christian Daycare shortly after opening in February 2018 and is our two-year-old teacher. She is a graduate of Duke University with her degree in public policy. She is full of energy and enthusiasm to help the children in her class thrive. Each week she thoughtfully considers the needs of each child and intentionally prepares activities for her group. Diligently she seeks to help each child grow and learn, but most importantly she strives to be a positive influence on their introduction to the Christian faith.
Deena is a loving mother of two adult children that bring her great joy. When she is not serving at the daycare, she enjoys the outdoors and visiting local farmer's markets (which inspires her love of cooking). However, her two favorite past times are thrifting and going to yard sales.
Outside of her responsibility of bringing up her own children, she is certain that "...perhaps this is the moment for which I was created." (Esther 4:14) In the classroom, Deena faithfully illustrates her favorite Bible verse from Proverbs 22:6 which reads: "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it."
Gerry Elisio
In December 2019, Ms. Geraldine (Gerry) Elisio joyfully accepted a position on our team of caregivers. Since joining us at CCD, she has primarily helped as an aide in our infant program, and more recently moved to care for the children at the daycare in the morning.
Gerry was a stay-at-home mom and raised twin girls. One of her daughters is currently a member of the administration at Concord Christian Academy, and her other daughter has followed in her footsteps caring for Gerry's granddaughter as a stay-at-home mom.
When Gerry decided to pursue employment at CCD, it was her love for children and her desire for each one of them to know Christ as their personal Savior that motivated her to apply. One of the things Gerry loves most is reading the Bible and praying with the children.
When she is not serving at the daycare, some of her interests include cooking Italian food, music, art, golfing, and studying the Bible. Her burning desire to learn and know Jesus surpasses all of her other interests. The moment Gerry accepted Christ as her personal Savior her life was transformed, and her testimony began. At times she has faced challenging seasons, but those challenges have only strengthened her faith and love for Jesus. Those challenges have not left her inward-focused. She has a very generous heart, and not only loves each child at CCD but has a genuine interest in the well-being of their parents.
Her favorite scripture is Psalm 46:10, "Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth." This passage has been a reminder to Gerry to quiet her thoughts and to seek God for direction. It also reminds her to think about the good things she has been blessed with in spite of circumstances.
